FROM THE FOUNDER

My name is John Kenney and as it says above, I am the founder of Orlando Dueling Pianos. I would like to share a little bit about myself and what we do. We have a simple mission.

“We strive to bring happiness into the world through music.” 

This has been a goal of mine since I started playing music. It’s sort of a “we work so you can play” kind of thing.

About Me
I started music in high school from my choir teacher, Rod Bushey. Our high school choir motto was “in pursuit of excellence.”Our choir always scored the highest scores at choir and ensemble festivals. Pursuing excellence in music is something I learned when I started and find that I’m still very passionate about it today.

I’ve carried these beliefs with me in my journey as I have developed myself musically over the past 20+ years. I have worn a lot of different hats over my career. I started dueling pianos in Lansing, MI and have played all over the United States and even the Caribbean.

I’ve worked performing dueling pianos for companies like Howl at the Moon, Rum Runners, Ernie Biggs, Walt Disney World Resort, Norwegian Cruise Line, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, Universal Orlando, and many freelance piano bars along the way. Before dueling pianos I was a sound engineer, DJ and I played in many different bands and orchestras. You could say I have a bit of experience.

About The Company
I started this company in 2013 just as a side project. I was approached at Disney by a client who wanted dueling pianos for their wedding entertainment. Over the next few years we slowly started booking weddings and corporate events outside of our house gig at Jellyrolls. I left Jellyrolls in 2016 to focus my energy on running a business full time from home.

I say business as if we are a large company, but in all honesty, this business is just me and a handful of the best duelers in the state of Florida. I’m a stay at home dad with an infant, and I play piano. That’s it! I don’t have a job. Being a dad and playing piano at weddings is my job.

I am completely reliant on wonderful clients such as yourself. I have no staff. I handle the bookings, scheduling, equipment management, entertainment, bookkeeping and I sweep the floors. And my floors are spotless!

When you book with Orlando Dueling Pianos, you get me and my team. There’s no surprises. There’s not a couple of guys who show up to play. It’s me. The guy you talk to on the phone. The guy writing this email! And I usually bring a stellar musician or two with me.

More Than Just Dueling Pianos 
Orlando Dueling Pianos is an entertainment company. We offer far more than just dueling pianos. We are proficient in providing a variety of entertainment options for all kinds of events. And we don’t limit ourselves to Orlando, or even the State of Florida. We are happy to perform anywhere in the US, Canada, Caribbean, or wherever you can find a couple pianos.

In addition to dueling pianos, we also offer the following services:

• Double Dueling Pianos (4 pianos at once)

As a stay at home dad I am usually around during the day and I always have time to chat. Even late in the evening. I think you’ll find that my attention to detail and pursuit of excellence cannot be matched. I was taught well to be the best that I can be. I believe in that mantra very much. I personally love what I do and love meeting and working with new people. Building new relationships is something I’m passionate about and is something I do really well! I just wanted to share a little about myself and help provide more of a back story for the people I’ve met along the way. I hope to work with you in the future and help create unforgettable moments.
